Exakta 66 III - Medium Format Camera

The first Medium Format camera introduced by Exakta was the Model A. Produced in 1933, it had a negative size of 1 5/8 x 2 1/2. There were 4 standard lenses for the Model A; one from Meyer Optical, one from Schneider, and two from Zeiss. Exakta has more than 60 years of experience in producing single lens reflex cameras – more than any other camera manufacturer. Today, Exakta releases its latest camera, the Exakta 66 Model III. The Exakta 66 III has a rubber armored, die-cast metal housing with the finest black anodizing. The format size has been increased to 2¼ x 2¼ (6x6) – the same size that the world famous Hasselblad and Rollei cameras feature. You can use either 120 (12 exposure) or 220 (24 exposure) size film without changing backs. The Exakta 66 Model III has the largest selection of standard lenses; one made by Exakta, one by Zeiss, and one by Schneider, made in accordance with the highest German standard of quality. All three lenses are Multicoated!

Manufactured in Germany, the Exakta 66 Model III is a model of German precision and high quality. It is the perfect camera for both professional and amateur photographers who prefer mechanical reliability without batteries. The Exakta 66 Model III is easier to use than a 35mm camera. The shutter is extremely quiet. The square format simplifies camera position while you take photographs because there is no need to turn your camera. The Exakta 66 III can easily be used for action photography since it is built like a larger 35mm camera to make hand holding easier. It is also excellent for studio work. It is extremely light weight for a medium format camera with a metal body. Because of the superior design of the Exakta 66 III, you do not need to purchase an expensive handgrip to hold the camera steady as you would with many other medium format cameras.

The Exakta 66 Model III has a full range of shutter speeds from 1 - 1/1000 second and B for time exposure. It features a 10 second self timer and weighs 1,020g with the back. There is no other medium format camera in the world with all these features and high quality at this low price. The Exacta 66 series has the largest selection of lenses for medium format cameras. Lenses are made by Schneider, Zeiss, Cambron, and many other famous lens manufacturers. The lenses range from the 30mm fisheye lens to the 1000mm mirror lens as well as zoom lenses and teleconverters. The lens focal lengths are 30mm, 40mm, 45mm, 50mm, 60mm, 65mm, 80mm, 120mm, 150mm, 180mm, 250mm, 300mm, 500mm, 1000mm, 55mm Shift, 75-150mm Zoom, and 140-280mm Zoom. Bellows lenses for regular and macro photography are available in 28mm, 50mm, 135mm, and 180mm. Several teleconverters are also available. The Exakta 66 series also has a large selection of viewfinders which includes a folding viewfinder with magnifier, prism viewfinder, prism viewfinder with TTL metering, magnifying hood, right angle finder, and a focusing magnifier with correction strength diopters for the viewfinders.

The Exakta 66 Model III features a complete focusing screen system which allows photographers to cover their individual needs. A complete line of filters for both black and white and color photography are available for the Exakta 66 series, as well as many polarizers. Large selections of Softar filters by Zeiss, B+W and Cambron are also available. Sunshades are made in the screw-in type, the bayonet type, and the Proshade (Bellows lenshood) type. The close up macro system on the Model III is the most advanced system available offering a large number of options. The Exakta 66 macro system is comprised of various Bellows, numerous sizes of extension tubes, and reversing rings. It also offers close up lenses by B+W and others, as well as Bellows lenses by Schneider. The flash system is compatible with any automatic or manual flash with a PC cord without any dedicated adapter. All these features make the Exakta 66 Model III the medium format camera to purchase for any professional or amateur photographer seeking flexibility and high quality in a low cost package.
