Canon ES970 - 8mm Video Camera

You've never been closer to your subjects than when you're holding the ES970. It features the world's longest optical zoom lens - 22X - and it's exclusively available from Canon. You'll transform distant subjects into dramatic close-ups in as little as 3 seconds; especially subjects too far away to be seen by the bare eye. Canon's Optical Image Stabilization System is the perfect match for this ultra-powerful zoom. You'll record smooth, steady images while in full stride or shooting from a moving vehicle which will enhance your enjoyment during playback on TV. Other features designed to increase your videomaking and viewing pleasure include our exclusive Flexizone and Auto Editing Functions. Using FlexiZone you'll easily archieve focusing and exposure results that will surprise your audience. And the built-in Auto Editor helps you create a personal masterpiece by discarding any bloopers or blunders that occur while recording.

The ES970 contains other features intended to keep you involved in the action including Programmed Auto Exposure and a high resolution Color Viewfinder. Specific Programmed AE modes adjust the picture brightness level when recording in video sensitive surroundings such as fast action sports, stage plays or concerts or days at sea side or ski slope. And the color viewfinder makes it easy to compose a shot and distinguish your subject by color. Outstanding clarity is achieved in this 8mm model whether recording mountain tops or a jewelry collection thanks to the Digital Signal Processing Circuit. It delivers distinct detail throughout a wide dynamic range and even handles quick changes in shooting conditions including temperature.

Features

The Canon ES970 8mm camcorder incorporates state-of-the-art technology and many exclusive features competitive models cannot match. It offers exceptional value for both first-time buyers and experienced videographers seeking to upgrade their capabilities and achieve better results.

  • Optical 22X Zoom Lens offers greater imaging flexibility than ever before. As the world's longest camcorder zoom lens, the ES970 has a 35mm focal length equivalent of a 789mm lens! Plus, a rotary zoom control allows for easy optical zooming from the tightest telephoto shot to a sweeping panoramic view at any speed between 3 and 21 seconds.
  • Optical Image Stabilizer corrects camera shake instantly. You'll get smooth, stable pictures even on long telephoto shots without using a tripod. A system consisting of a transparent prism, vibration sensors and a dedicated microprocessor detect unintentional movement and correct the shape of the prism before the image reaches the lens. This optical method eliminates the negative side effects of other stabilization technologies that manipulate image data to correct shake.
  • FlexiZone Auto Focus/Auto Exposure technology allows greater control and keeps subjects in focus and properly exposed. Canon knows your subjects will move off-center and that you'll sometimes be shooting in less-than-ideal conditions. FlexiZone technology provides split-second response to keep your subject in perfect focus and optimally exposed anywhere within the frame and sets the exposure for the same subject too.
  • High Resolution Color Viewfinder features 113,000 pixels. You'll see exactly what you're shooting in living color, making it easy to compose each scene for maximum impact. You'll get better recordings, and have more fun in the process.
  • Programmed Auto Exposure offers users a choice of recording programs that best suit specific lighting conditions. In addition to an Easy Recording mode, four special exposure modes are designed to match diverse subjects and lighting conditions to provide the best possible image quality. Select Sports for fast action scenes, Portrait to emphasize the subject and soften backgrounds, Spotlight for shooting concerts or when subjects are bathed in bright lights and Sand/Snow for shooting at bright beaches and ski resorts where reflected light is intense.
  • Auto Editing Capabilities allow you to shorten, delete and reorder scenes to create beautifully edited programs on virtually any VCR. A display appearing on your TV screen indicates cut-in and cut-out times as programmed via the ES970's remote control.
  • AFM Stereo Sound provides a hi-fi quality sound track to match the high quality images captured by the ES970. For greater audio control there's even external microphone and headphone jacks.
  • 2 Custom Keys allow you to personalize the ES970 to fit your shooting style. You can actually select two of 16 frequently accessed features and dedicate two physical keys on the camera body for one-touch access, eliminating programming errors and enhancing convenience.
  • Built-in Titler lets users write titles and superimpose them onto recordings with the ES970's character generator. The ES970 also offers a choice of adding the date and time in three different display modes.
  • Quality VCR Performance means you'll get the same quality playback you'd expect from a high quality VCR including full remote control operation and the ability to record directly from a television or another VCR.
  • 1 Year Warranty on all parts and labor included.
